Physiotherapy assessment and treatment from the comfort of your home
Virtual physiotherapy via telephone or video (Zoom) is a great alternative to a face face consultation while we continue to follow social distancing guidelines. Whether you're an existing or new patient we are here to help you from the conform of your own home. We accept referrals for virtual physiotherapy from private health insurers AXA, Vitality Health and Aviva.
How does a virtual consultation work?
You will be sent a Zoom meeting invite (please ensure that you have tested your video camera before the appointment) or if you prefer a telephone consultation we can call you. At the time of your appointment simply open the meeting link and we will be there to chat with you. We will talk about your condition and you may be asked to perform some movements, activities or tasks. From this initial assessment we can usually get a good idea of what is going on and agree a treatment plan with you.
What problems can you treat with virtual physiotherapy?
Pain in pregnancy
Hip and groin pain
Pre and post operative rehabilitation
and many more......
What physiotherapy treatments can be offered virtually?
Many musculoskeletal problems can be helped with appropriate exercises. Following your assessment we will be able to guide you in movements to perform or avoid to help with your problem. We will practice your exercises with you and provide you with a written plan following your appointment.
If you are awaiting surgery for a musculoskeletal condition e.g. a joint replacement, which has been delayed due to Covid-19 we can provide advice on self management and if appropriate provide an individualised prehabilitation plan to prepare you for surgery to help improve your post surgical outcomes. We can also provide post operative rehabilitation plans and progression to support your recovery and return to function.
We can provide education and advice on pain management, including pacing, activity modification, and self treatment techniques.
If required we can guide you in specific taping techniques and advise on joint supports to help to ease your symptoms.
We can provide 1:1 clinical pilates or you can join one of our online weekly pilates classes. To find out more see our pilates information page.
